I’m thrilled to announce that I’m a participating designer in the 2021 Indie Gift-A-Long!
The Indie Gift-A-Long (GAL) is a massive multi-designer make-along that takes place on Ravelry every holiday season. Hundreds of designers’ patterns are eligible for categorized KALs/CALs that are designed to encourage festive gift-making (for loved ones or for yourself…); there are also games, awards, and prizes. The participants are some of the friendliest people I’ve run across in the fiber arts community—there’s constant encouragement, crafting tips, and hilarious chatter coming in 24 hours a day from all over the world. All that happens in the official Indie Gift-A-Long Ravelry group here.
For the first several days of the GAL, every participating designer (including yours truly) puts out a curated Ravelry bundle of patterns that is 25% off with the coupon code giftalong2021. My bundle is here; to see all the discounted patterns from all 242 designers, take a look here. The code is good until 8:00 PM EST on Monday, November 29.
So that non-Rav users can still access my patterns at a discount, I’m running a sale in my Payhip store as well. The discount and sale dates are the same; just use the coupon code PRESENTS at checkout.
One of my favorite aspects of this event is the collegial spirit among the participating designers. Most have average-sized to small design businesses, and the event is structured to lift everyone up. The designers never treat one another as competition—if anything, they’re lavish in complimenting, buying, and promoting other designers’ patterns. Many of them are interactive and craft, admire, and laugh right alongside the participants. The moderators have built a lively community around the event; many return year after year and recognize one another.
I’ll be knitting and crocheting along in the GAL Ravelry group; I hope you’ll join us! The joy and kindness are infectious. On a personal, note, this is my third GAL; every one has somehow been perfectly timed to put on smile on my face during a difficult period in life. It’s become a highlight of my holiday season and I wouldn’t miss it for anything.
