Today’s the last release day for Dancing Knits—the final pattern in the collection is Duke of Kent!
Duke of Kent was actually the first pattern I designed for the collection, and I think it’s my favorite. (Don’t tell the others I said that…) The Duke of Kent’s waltz, the inspiration dance, is one of the more complex dances I grew up doing; a line dance with intricate turns and pinwheel formations, it takes some practice to learn but is so worth it.
Along those lines, I went for an ornate look with lace, twisted stitches, and some unusual bud stitches. The stole begins with a a center-out square medallion and transitions to two wings on either side. It’s a fun construction to work with lots of stitch patterns to keep things from getting boring.
All the single patterns in the collection are 15% off until September 30 with code Knit&Dance, so be sure to snag what you want on Ravelry or Payhip until then. The ebook has gone up to its final price since this is the last pattern in the collection, but it’s still more cost-effective than buying all 5 single patterns.
Thank you for coming along on this little jaunt through English country dance and knitting; I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have. Now that the whole collection is out, I’m excited to hear what you think! Which design is your favorite?
