If you like shimmery projects but aren’t a fan of shiny yarn, this cowl is just for you! It is available for download from Crochet.com, and it’s free! Crochet.com, or WeCrochet, is the brand-new crochet counterpart and sister site to Knitpicks.com, which published my knitted Fenestra Shawl this summer.
The cowl uses a simple stitch pattern of single crochet and chain spaces to create a dazzling stripe effect that is much easier to work than it looks.
To make as pictured, you’ll need two balls of Knitpicks-WeCrochet Chroma Worsted, which you can get from either website mentioned above. This sample is knit up in Black and Red Velvet. WeCrochet chose the colors; I love the subtle watercolor-y variations that offer an analogous color scheme without being boring. If pink isn’t your jam (pardon the visual pun; the colors remind me of jam…), there are plenty of other colors to choose from, from crazy neon brights to Victorian pastels. Solid colors are also available in assorted neutral shades.
WeCrochet already has lots of patterns, both free and paid, available; be sure to go and check out the website. For those in a hurry, you can get your copy of Facets here. Enjoy!
