It’s release day for pattern No. 3 in my fall collection, Dancing Knits—Spanish Waltz!
When planning out the designs for Dancing Knits, I knew there needed to be a design inspired by the Spanish Waltz, one of our group’s favorite dances (for the backstory on this, see my post from last week). It’s one of the more formal English Country dances, with slow, elegant steps and graceful turns. I wanted a slightly cropped, close-fitting cardigan that could be paired with formal dresses and skirts, lightweight but with a bit of body. As soon as I saw Malabrigo’s Glitter colorway (I’ve been having a gold phase this past year) the design came together quickly, with a bold leaf & fan motif and a scalloped collar. A designer friend said the pattern and color scheme give off a luxurious Art Deco vibe, and I’m not arguing. Sport weight gives the fabric both the drape and the substance I was looking for, and you wouldn’t believe how fast it knits up. It pairs well with this red taffeta skirt, one of my proudest thrift store finds from my teens, but week-to-week I’ve been wearing it with business casual attire (i.e. sheath dresses and pencil skirts) and it dresses down well too. I’m particularly chuffed with the collar; it’s subtle, but dresses up the sweater just a bit more than if it had been basic twisted rib.
Dancing Knits will have 5 patterns total, with 3 of the patterns revealed and out for single purchase today. Each week in September, another pattern will be revealed/added to the ebook and the ebook price will increase. So bear that in mind if you’d like to get the full ebook, since it’s significantly discounted at this time.
Both the ebooks and the single patterns will be available on Ravelry and on Payhip. If you’re getting single patterns, use the code Knit&Dance for 15% off until midnight on September 30. (If you’re on my email newsletter, be sure to check your inbox for your special code).
Now that 3 of the 5 designs in this collection are out, I’d love to know which is your favorite so far. Let me know in the comments what you think—and enjoy Spanish Waltz!
Wow, it ‘s really beautiful !
Thank you so much! 🙂
wow, so beautiful. I do miss the dance, but we will dance again.
I hope so!
Also I can’t help that Mr. Wodehouse would be pleased with the sweater over the evening gown– less fear of catching cold !
Now that’s a good point!! If Wodehouse approves I’m satisfied 🙂
