I’m so excited that I didn’t even bother to come up with an artsy title for this post. As you can see from the on-the-nose announcement I went with instead, the LoveCrafts team has selected Pyrifolia as one of their nominees for their Pattern of the Month competition!
I’ve been using LoveCrafts as a Ravelry alternative for a couple of years now and Pattern of the Month is one of my favorite features. LoveCrafts reviews and approves every design that is published on the site before it goes up for sale, so their team likely goes over hundreds of indie patterns every month. Every month, they choose 20 of those patterns (10 knit and 10 crochet) for a user-judged competition in which their members vote for their favorite. The winning pattern gets a hefty bump in promotion through LoveCrafts’ email newsletters and other channels for the next month. I’ve been clicking the voting button enthusiastically ever since I created my account, but I didn’t ever expect I’d be voting for myself…
This pattern was one of those happy accidents; I whipped it up over a few days and decided to publish it on a whim, so I’m both chuffed and tickled that the LoveCrafts team liked it so much. You never can quite tell, which is inconvenient from a business point of view, but lack of omniscience does lend itself to pleasant surprises now and again.
Voting is happening here, for anyone who’s interested in checking out some fun new patterns (and I don’t just mean mine—I had serious difficulty not voting for the baby owl rattle). Anyone with a free LoveCrafts account can vote. May the best pattern win!
