I have two major bits of news today, one almost completely spur-of-the-moment and another that’s been a long time in coming.
First, Red Earth Designs is getting a new logo! It’s been niggling at me for some time that I needed to do a redesign; as fun as it is, the old logo is a bit inflexible and is hard to use at different sizes, in different color schemes, and for different applications.
Branding is a major factor in the success of a designer; mainly for purposes of making one’s work recognizable and bringing in a sense of unity to everything from patterns to ads to avatars. In fact, it was while trying to design ads for my upcoming pattern release (more on that below) that I realized that my old logo simply won’t cut it any more. So instead of designing ads, I spent my morning reading up on logo redesign. Behold!
It isn’t as bold or as vibrant; but on the flipside, it’s cleaner, lighter, fresher, more sophisticated. Also, it will hopefully stand the test of time better than the old logo. The color of the lettering can be changed based on the background. It can be resized. Elements can be pulled out for use on promotional material without using the entire logo. As a result I will slowly be reformatting all my self-published patterns and updating all my internet profiles, so things may start looking slightly different around here. And some ads did get made after all, which should go up on Ravelry next month.
It works, it works! At least I hope so; let me know in the comments. But this brings me round to the second piece of news, which isn’t so much news as it is a reminder. Le Soir is coming next week!
I won’t give the whole spiel and details again (which you can read here), but I will say again how excited I am about this! There will be lots more pictures, a discount for the full ebook, and a giveaway for a free pdf copy of the pattern, so keep an eye out. So much to look forward to!
Love this pattern in peppercorn. Makes an elegant scarf even more beautiful. Love the different patterns incorporated especially the baubles. This would be a fun knit. One for me and one to gift
So glad you like it!
