Announcements!

This post will be a bit of a hodgepodge; I’ve had a number of things in the past week that didn’t fit into my normal blogging schedule, so I am throwing the chaos into one great pile and calling it order.

The main reason why it’s day late is that I wanted to wait for Miramis! It was unpinned from the blocking board this morning and gifted just a few hours ago. Other than commissions, where I usually don’t get to choose the pattern, I don’t get to do projects by other designers as often as I would like; this shawl has been hovering in the back of my mind for months, and it was the perfect quick project to squeeze in between jobs and keep my mind fresh.

I did two repeats of the final chart, rather than three as the designer did in her pattern sample; I wasn’t sure how it would look with less lace on the bottom, but now that it’s blocked I’m very happy with it. Besides the fact that it’s a fun knit and extremely elegant, I love the flexibility/adaptablity of the pattern. I’ll definitely be making more of these!

There was a hard frost on the ground this morning when I dashed out to take pictures; I wanted to lay the shawl on the lawn and see if the camera could catch the sparkle, but somehow it didn’t seem like a good idea to risk gifting some grass along with the shawl!

On the professional side, my Facets Cowl was featured in the brand-new WeCrochet magazine, as well as the first episode of the WeCrochet podcast! The magazine can be found here, and the podcast episode is here. In addition, WeCrochet has put together some project kits with a laminated wooden crochet hook and all the materials to make a Facets Cowl in one of three cute color combos, all for a special discounted price. I didn’t know that there were going to be kits until I saw the hyperlink in the show notes for the podcast; but I love all three color packs! There’s the original combo of black and variegated reds/pinks/purples (below), as well as two other watercolor-y pastel sets.

And a reminder—all proceeds from the sale of my Farthest Coast shawl pattern will be donated to HopeRussia for a limited time. If you’d like to support this wonderful ministry through purchasing a copy of Farthest Coast, be sure to do so before midnight EST on Christmas Eve!

And a parting word—if you think you might be interested in making my next design (there will be a knit and a crochet version), then you might want to have some faux-fur yarn on hand. It’s a quick project and would make a great Christmas gift…
