Pattern Release—Crossings Earwarmer, Cowl, & Mitts

It seems I’m guilty of neglecting my crochet followers a bit. Since releasing my last crochet design in January of this year, I’ve released 6 knit patterns over 10 months. But I’m making amends now with three patterns in one—meet the Crossings set!

This design has been bubbling away in the crochet lab for a while now (recall the photo below, which I shared ages ago, before coronavirus happened…wow, it has been a long time…), and I was getting a bit anxious that the crocheters around here would think I’d forgotten them. But y’all have been very much on my mind, and I’m thrilled about having this design to share with you!

The title is pretty self-explanatory; Crossings is a crocheted set of earwarmer, cowl, and mittens. It uses two different yarns from WeCrochet—Wool of the Andes Sport, a basic workhorse sportweight wool—and Fable Fur, a super bulky faux fur yarn. (Not an affiliate link—you can get both of these yarns on sale right now during the WeCrochet Big Sale!) Each accessory consists of two pieces: a 2-color tapestry crochet overlay, and a lining or trim piece worked in single crochet with the super bulky fur. The two pieces are whip-stitched together after everything is blocked.

Both the cowl and earwarmer are fully lined; the mittens have a narrow trim piece that is stitched to the wrists.

The accessory set is published as a single pattern, free to download from the WeCrochet website. If you want to grab it in print or ebook form, it’s also available in Issue 5 of the WeCrochet magazine. (And it’s on the cover—what do you know?)

Again, I hope this will atone for my lack of crochet design productivity this year! WeCrochet is always a treat to work with and this pattern has been a blast to put together. We hope you have a great time making it!

Oh, and about this cowl project photo; I haven’t made much more progress since then. If you’re thinking about making one, there’ll be an opportunity to crochet along with me in a few weeks, as well as another, brand new self-published design—I’ll keep you posted!
