Pattern Release—Downstream Tee

After a long wait—Downstream Tee is finally here!

As you’ll notice, Downstream Tee is my very first garment pattern; need I say more to explain why this release was emphatically not on time? I completed the sample more than two months ago, but between grading the design, going through multiple rounds of tech editing, and having it tested, it’s been a busy two months. But hey—in the South, where I’m from, summer temps can persist into December, so…perhaps it’s not too, too off-base to release a summer tee in October?

Anyway, Downstream is a bottom-up, seamless raglan with lace sleeves; it’s written to be worn with 4″-6″ inches of positive ease and comes in 12 sizes, from 30″-72″ bust. It’s easy to adjust the length of the body or sleeves, if you so desire (there’s a part of me that really, really wants a 3/4 sleeve version for fall…).

I used SweetGeorgia Flaxen Silk Fine in their Mermaid colorway for my sample; I dare you not to look through the entire color range on Flaxen Silk Fine. It’s that pretty…

All of my patterns require work from a lot of people who aren’t me—usually a yarn dyer, a tech editor, and a group of test knitters. This time, I also had tons of help from my SweetGeorgia Yarns mentor, Tabetha Hedrick, who patiently answered all my random grading questions with aplomb and good humor (seriously, she’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever worked with!), and one of my brothers who I won’t embarrass by calling out here; but he took all the pictures of this tee, because I didn’t want to set up a tripod on a slippery, muddy bank or in moving water. I’ll do crazy things to take a picture, but not that crazy.

Now, the details: this pattern is available on Ravelry and Payhip, and it’s 10% off with code Downstream10 until October 30. Newsletter subscribers will have gotten an email with a special discount code this morning; if you’re on the list, check your inbox for that.

I can’t wait to hear what you all think! Downstream Tee is the first step on a new adventure for me as a designer; I’m looking forward to bringing you lots more garment patterns in the near future!
