Ever Wanted to Knit Like a Hobbit?

It’s the first day of fall in the Northern Hemisphere, but Lord of the Rings fans are excited about something else entirely: it’s Bilbo and Frodo’s birthday, aka Hobbit Day!

I’ve celebrated Hobbit Day here on the blog with various highjinks in past years (see last year’s nonsense), but I’m extra excited about this year—because I have a pattern in Tanis Gray’s new Fellowship of the Knits book!

Fellowship of the Knits is one of those projects every designer dreams of contributing to: 27 patterns for a full range of skill levels, suitable for elves, wizards, horse-lords, and of course hobbits, all bound in glorious gilded hardcover. It’s bound to lie flat for easy knitting, but it could easily be a collectible coffee table book. Since my author copy arrived in the mail, I haven’t been able to stop flipping through it. And I may have just queued up a ton of the patterns to make for myself…the purple project above is a little sneak preview of my design, which I’ll share next week when the book releases.

The Fellowship of the Knits is available for preorder on Amazon until September 26; release day! I can’t wait for y’all to get copies of this in your hands. Jaws will hit the floor, I promise.

For now, envision yourself sitting on a green hilltop on a sunny day, knitting projects fit for Middle-Earth, and maybe a wizard stopping by to invite you on an adventure. You’ll be the best-dressed person in the company…
