Quiet Bay MKAL Starts in Two Weeks!

That’s right—less than two weeks until the Quiet Bay Mystery Shawl Knitalong with SweetGeorgia Yarns begins!

Final prep is winding down here, and I can’t wait to share the results of all the work that has gone into this event. To tell the truth, I’m a little nervous too; a lot of knitters are trusting me with 5 weeks of their knitting time and, to be frank, it’s scary. The SweetGeorgia team already knows what they’re doing…no reason for them to be nervous! It’s been encouraging to see all the beautiful yarn combinations popping up in the MKAL discussion group. Some seriously gorgeous shawls are going to be showing up soon!

There’s still time to get the pattern for an early bird discount from SweetGeorgia’s website and on Ravelry. The pattern is automatically discounted until August 24, the cast-on date; no coupon code needed. And there’s still time to assemble yarns! SweetGeorgia has assembled some curated yarn kits for the MKAL (pattern not included with the purchase of a kit) or you can assemble your own color combinations from SweetGeorgia’s website, from your local yarn store, or from stash. If you need inspiration, check out the MKAL discussion forum on the School of SweetGeorgia website (there’s a direct link in the preorder packet you’ll get when you purchase the pattern). Be sure to sign up for the group so that you can participate in the chatter and photo sharing (there’s some serious eye candy in there!).

Details regarding the pattern, MKAL dates, and logistics can be found in SweetGeorgia’s introductory blog post here.

And I can’t believe I forgot to mention this! Felicia Lo, the founder/creative director of SGY, talked about the Quiet Bay MKAL on her weekly vlog Taking Back Friday! She talks through the concept of a mystery knitalong, the MKAL theme, and more, so be sure to check that out, especially if you’re on the fence about joining the MKAL. (Unrelated plug—I’m tickled pink about this because Taking Back Friday is my favorite knitting vlog ever! Felicia is a wonderful host and always has fun, engaging yarn-related content to share. Going through previous episodes is the perfect companion to a knitting marathon…) The Quiet Bay MKAL episode can be found on YouTube here.

13 more days—the countdown is on! If you have any other questions about the MKAL, feel free to reach out to me and I’ll do my best to answer. I’ll see you there!
